Hair Type: Type 1C-2A (straight to slightly wavy), fine-to-medium density, naturally light blonde

I got into hair writing because I spent my entire college budget on products that didn't work for my hair and figured someone should save other people from doing the same thing. I'm based outside New York, I have fine blonde hair that does absolutely nothing on its own, and I've been reviewing hair products and writing styling guides for about five years now.

My hair is Type 1C on a good day, 2A if the weather cooperates. Fine, flat, naturally blonde — the kind where you can see your scalp if you part it wrong. I straightened and fried it through my early twenties because I didn't know what else to do with it. It took a really bad bleach job in 2019 (at a salon, not even at home) to force me to actually learn how hair works instead of just throwing products at it.

These days I focus on blonde maintenance, volumizing fine hair, and styling bobs and bangs — which is what I've had in some variation for the last three years. I test everything on my actual head during actual workweeks. No ring lights, no blowout bar prep. If a $46 root spray does the same thing as a $9 one from Target, I'll tell you. I've made my friends mad by telling them their expensive shampoo is overpriced but they keep asking me what to buy anyway so it works out.

I also have a thing for flat irons. I own four. My boyfriend thinks that's insane. He's probably right.
