About Ebony Princess

Ebony Princess

Hair Type: Type 4B-4C (coily/kinky), thick, high-density natural hair

I big chopped in 2019 after twelve years of relaxers and I'm still not over how good it felt. Terrifying, but good. I had no idea what my real texture looked like — turns out I'm 4B in the back, 4C in the front, and somewhere in between on the sides. My hair does what it wants and I've learned to work with that instead of fighting it.

I live in Atlanta. Moved here on purpose because the natural hair scene is real — the salons, the community, the fact that nobody looks at you weird when you show up to brunch in a silk bonnet. I started writing about hair because every "curly hair" article I found was written for someone with 3A ringlets and a completely different set of problems than mine. Type 4 hair doesn't need more representation in the "we love all curls" sense. It needs actual specific advice that works for our density, our shrinkage, our porosity levels.

So that's what I write about. Protective styles that look intentional, not like you gave up. Deep conditioning methods that actually penetrate high-porosity hair. Wig and extension care for people who switch it up every few weeks. Edge control that holds without flaking by noon. I also spent a stupid amount of money on natural hair products that turned out to be mostly shea butter and good marketing, so I'm pretty blunt about what's worth buying.

I don't do 30-step wash days. I have a full-time life. If your routine requires a free Sunday afternoon and twelve products, I'm not your girl. I write for people who need their hair to look good and have other things to do.
